Bianchi Mustards
I was thinkng about swaping out my sozos in my 18 watt with some mustards. Just for the experement of the mojo I guess. The Bianchis are much cheeper than non Bianchi mustards.
I guess the question is the Bianchis are made in spain (I think) and the others are made where? What are the markings on the different factorys? ( Double line. One line/ dots on bottom ect.) Suposedly the bianchi are made to the same specs as the normal mustads.
Should I just source the more expensive mustard that is referd as mullard mustards? Do you think there is a difference?
Any other mustard information is greatly appreciated!

Re: Bianchi Mustards
I was always lead to believe that all the "Mustard" caps were Phillips in origin and IIRC the Bianchi label was a work around for a distributorship issue. Since Phillips had multiple plants, were all the Mullard labeled caps even made at the same facility? Get the cheaper versions while you can.

There is no difference.
There won't be lots of differnce between the mustards and Sozos. The mustards are defocused just so very slightly by comparison. If the caps measure the same..

So I'm gonna work on a Marshall next and from your previous post sounds like I should go with the Mallory 150's yes??

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

I like the plan. If you miss the mustard tone, wipe a little Grey Poupon on your 150's.JoeCon wrote:Miles

150s are fine! Mustards are for looks. Seal the amp and lie.

Re: Bianchi Mustards
I s'pose. I've been happy with the clarity of M 150's for some years now and before that it was Xicon metallized polypro 'brown chiclet' caps but if I'm not mistook no more Xicons for sale. Been trying some Panasonic instead and they're also good, no complaints, reasonable (Low) prices. Sometime if I feel spendy plan on trying Mojo's Dijon caps. So I'd say put in M 150's to start, and don't wrap the leads round & round so you can try something else if you feel like experimenting in the future.RockinRocket wrote:So I think everyons saying go cheep or save your money

Re: Bianchi Mustards
I really like the Mojo Dijon caps. I get them wholesale in qty so not too expensive. They are considerably larger however if size is an issue. I still like the 150's also.Leo_Gnardo wrote:I s'pose. Hear all you want. Hear what you want.
I like mustards because I am used to seeing them. I use Sozos when they are within arms reach on non-retro mod circuits. All things equal, the big difference is in output transformer. Very noticable even after the swap every time.
The mustards defocus ever so slightly.
