designing the power tube section

Post by stretch2011 »

Anybody have a preferred book on this? I just read Merlin's book on preamp design. Granted I need to go through it some more. Just thought I'd get started on the other half of the amp!

I like Richard Kuehnel's book on power amp design.
Some feel that maths can be a bit too much there, but I think it is right up to the job.

London amps book principles of power is very good, it has many power amp section examples and covers power supply's also!
The hook is also made / bound in a way that pages will not start falling out after 6 hours of handling!
When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming like the passengers in his car!

Cutting out a man's tongue does not mean he’s a liar, but it does show that you fear the truth he might speak about you!

I really like Merlin Blencowe's "Designing Tube Power Amps".

Too bad he hasn't written it yet.

The math and graphs have to be there. I'm an engineering student so I'm not afraid of it. At the same time I'd rather not be reading or rather trying to read a book ment for phd's in electrical engineering.

Kuehnel is the shit. Vibratoking turned me on to his work. I only have the one on preamp design and there's math enough to make your head asplode. I'll likely get the one on power amp design eventually. I just feel there's more fun to be had in the pre. I love Merlin's book on preamp design as well. Both of those are great to have on one's shelf. Kuehnel is all math and strictly from the engineering standpoint, while Merlin is a bit more out there, but not lacking in theory or math. Just another perspective, I suppose.
