Laney VH100R bright cap
Hi guys, is the C10 on this photo a bright cap I need to remove in order to cut down on treble and fizziness ?

Yes it is, no you don't need.
Re: Laney VH100R bright cap
You do not think I should remove it? It's not on my amp it's on a friends amp who has it all stock original...
Re: Laney VH100R bright cap
You can totally try it, and if it sounds too flat afterwards you can always try attenuating treble earlier in the pre.

+1, or put C10 back, and increase the "fizz cap", C14.Gaz wrote:You can totally try it, and if it sounds too flat afterwards you can always try attenuating treble earlier in the pre.

And/or slap a 500p across R7
Re: Laney VH100R bright cap
Ideas.. ideas.. OK
will try all of them
Re: Laney VH100R bright cap
Keep the circuit as is, and work on preamp voltages.
Re: Laney VH100R bright cap
Slaped 500 pF over R7 but did not get rid of treble. Took out C10 and the got rid of significant amount of treble
Probably this will do it for my friend, but will look in to getting more bass and low mid, maybe will use the same trick I have in my amp: putting that little network of 2.2nF ll 22K between 4 Ohm tap and NFB..
