Hey, I was initially missing the replies to the thread, but thanks a lot for the ideas!

Thing is I really don't like PI overdrive too much in big Fender amps, but I do like the clean EQ profile of the BF Fender tonestack, and would like to just add a little hair to it. I grew up on 800s, so I think that PPIMV tone just always sounds so fizzy and unrefined in comparison, especially

I will try the 3 stage clean, and play with that bottom leg of the divider on the 10p/3M3 high pass.

You know one really good example of this sound I'm thinking of is the clean channel of a Mesa Rectifier in "Vintage" mode or whatever. It takes it from really scooped and sterile to nice and gritty. Of course I cannot find a schem of the clean channel anywhere!

Nevermind just found the 3-channel schem for the Recto! Looks like it's a 3 stage clean with some switches to bypass the top of the divider for the 3rd stage, add a .002uF in parallel with the 250pF treble cap, and one other little filter just before the master.

If you play around you will likely find that you do not want anything larger than a .033 uf caps feeding the grid of the output tubes in regards to good bass response when cranked with little grid bias problems when the amp is cranked!
