What Extension cab would you build

Post by dragonbat13 »

I want to build an all around cabinet. Two speakers and Eight ohms is the only thing that is set in stone.

My plan is this:

I run two tubes in my twin. I have two vintage 30 celestions that I happen to like installed. They are set up for Eight ohms. If I need the extra volume I plug in the other two tubes and the Cabinet I want to build. It drops the load to four ohms and keeps the amp in the correct impedeance at the OT.

What I also want to do is use this cabinet with the Deluxe build I am working on along with the other projects I may see in the future.

I want an all around cabinet. 2x10 is an option also. Thanks.

aw come on. An eight ohm cab. What are your opinions

It will be made out of finger jointed birch. Maybe a panel that can be removed to make it open backed.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I seem to prefer Ceremic magnets over alnico

I just want to know your opinions folks!

I have a wiring schematic that will let you use both speakers at 4 or 16 ohms or individual speakers at 8 ohms. It's the most versatile arrangement for a 2 x 12– especially versatile if you have two different character speakers. It's on my computer at home. I will post it tonight.
You probably already know that cab design is not as critical for music production as for music reproduction.
Type of magnet changes the character of the tone produced. Don't forget to consider neodymium magnets, e.g. Celestion G12 Century. They can be quite bright, but again that may fit your preference.
