AIMS Personalized ECLIPSOR
New amp on the bench. There are a few photos of the front face of this amp on the web, e.g.:

But no gutshots that I could find. So, attached. This one needs a cab job; some are leaking, and the amp is popping fuses.

Those are all Amperex made in Holland preamp tubes in there, BTW.

'Net rumor has ex-Fender employees making these amps in Arizona in the 1970s:

Hadn't thought about that! Kind of the electronic components your aunt Beth would choose to make a necklace and bracelet set.Leo_Gnardo wrote:Arizona, that makes sense. Lotta turquoise caps in there. Tropical fish too.

All fixed up. Reading 80 clean watts at output. Spankin!
I love the little "hole sleeves" on the PCB, which serve as thru-hole plating. The make it easy to heat and lift components from the top of the board, and then wick the solder thru when soldered from the top. Very cool.

Rattle up some of the "electronic sculptures" Honeywell used in their magazine ads, late 60's. I don't have any photos otherwise I'd post them for sure. VERY cool stuff! And yes some of those caps would look good in jewelry.xtian wrote:Hadn't thought about that! Xtian, if you don't mind, what is the plate, screen and bias voltages on the 6550's?
Thanks,

Lou, she's already gone! But I observed -53v unloaded on pins 5, and 500 plates.

Re: AIMS Personalized ECLIPSOR
I worked an after school job for AIMS in Phoenix in the early 70's.
They were distributed/owned/partnered with a local music store, Arizona Music Center, now gone, I believe.
Good parts, heavy as hell. Nasty MDF cabinets.
Guitar, Bass, PA heads, all tubes.
The country guys loved them.
Rock players, not so much.
They were on the back line of lots of Phx stages in the day...

Re: AIMS Personalized ECLIPSOR
Update. Owner brought the Eclipsor back because it was blowing fuses. I replaced the old, wildly mismatched power tubes with some new Tung Sol 6550s. Replaced the screen resistors, and messed with the bias circuit until I'm getting about 50-60mA per tube with 550 on the plates, 530 on the screens. I measured 112 watts of clean power!
