hybrid master-plus

Post by C Moore »

Is there any Scuttlebutt on the Master Volume from Third Power.?
Is this more of a "power scaling" kind of a thing, or is it a variation of a LarMar MV.?
Thank You

hhhhmmmmm.....maybe a sign of things to come.?
Perhaps Bad cat is also pending a similar patent.?

bumping this query.

Anyone able to take an educated guess about how it's done?

Sounds like two different things. From the descriptions, I would guess the Third Power approach is some form of power scaling. The K Master sounds like a post-PI gain stage.

Post PI Gain stage.?
So another dual triode...phase invering, that has a volume control.?
Thanks

I don't know what the "plus" brings but the initial HybridMaster circuit was a dual-potentiometer arrangement where one potentiometer channel was wired in as an ordinary master volume control and the other channel used as a variable resistor to control phase-inverter stage's current ("bias resistor") and therefore also its clipping threshold.
