Yeah, I think I do. I think it stems from what I was just saying in another thread. We have all heard so many different and good guitarists over the past 50 or so years. It's hard to be creative and different enough to make an impression that hasn't already been made. I like some of Warren's stuff, but I feel like I've heard it all before. I went to a Mule concert a few years ago...I left before it was over. Great tones, good band, good voice and guitar playing, but it just didn't hold my interest....but that doesn't explain why his playing covers of the classic Allman repertoire seems ....... less ...... than Dickie and/or Duane. You know what I mean?

The Ballad of John Henry album has his best songs, tones and playing. This was the same time as the RAH DVD. I'm obviously biased because my amps toured with him for 5 years and on all the rigs around this time. THe second solo in Stop of BOJH is an EL34 amp I built that was different to the touring amps....I regard that as his best recorded tone.....but again I would !
I have witnessed every rig he's had since 2005 and when I visited at a sound check last year it was my least favourite. The main tone was coming from the clean channel of a DSL100 cranked, the amp located behind the wall of vintage Marshalls. The Friedman wasn't even plugged in and the old Marshalls were used as efx returns running cleaning. Prior to that he had a Trainwreck incorporated in there, but that got a bit lost against the 100W amps.
I believe more recently he has gone back to Jubilees etc so I think next time I see him it will be much better.
Joe is obviously a friend, but when you sit one on one with him playing and just chatting, his ability stretches way beyond the blues/rock genre. He really is a pretty amazing player.

Blues Deluxe, Sloe Gin, Dustbowl - they come from different years of his playing but all really great albums. Every time I listen to the guy I pick up a new lick or learn a new way to approach the I-IV-V .
He is more of a "musicians musician" Technically great, and more of an inspiration that a producer of consumable music. Plus he churns out records like every year, sometimes two. lol. It's probably the only way to become super profitable in the white under 40 blues category these days.

I've never heard of this guy, but what a powerful player!!! The band intensity reminds me of ABB at their peak.
Anybody tell what's that little amp he's using? I'm sure he could ring out those sounds on anything, but that is a killer sound for a small rig.

Awe your all drunk, Bonamassa is just as good as all the other players.
You're just jealous of his GAS and his deep pocket book to afford all those guitars and amps.

If we think about it..Do you think a 1959 Les Paul or an ODS will become more valuable before or after Joe's owned it?
In the interum he gets to actually enjoy his retirement account, instead of it being in a Mutual fund somewhere in Paperland!!
Smart Guy!!
His Dad used to be in the Guitar/Musical instrument business

Sorry, I thought interment was actually pretty humorous. I know the bad keyboard syndrome. I had on at home that had apple juice dumped all over it. Some pretty interesting text came out of that keyboard at times.
