Hello all, I have this rectifier in my collection and i have no idea what it is. It has no markings on the glass. It looks like a larger version of a 5V4 i have on the right.
Any clues?

Nevermind misunderstood what I was looking at.
Check the top of the glass.

Looks almost exactly the same as a Tung-Sol 5U4G I have.

Re: Mystery Rectifier
Measure filament resistance and if it's ~1.6 ohms then it's doubtless a 5U4 equiv. of some flavour.
Re: Mystery Rectifier
Basically when we talk about old vintage rectifiers (pre-1960), aren't we talking about either 5U4 or 5Y3?
Sure there are other designations, but I think the newer (still vintage) tubes are backwards compatible with the older designations.

Yup, give or take. There's another thread in past 24 hours that has PDF that's been floating around the 'net for several years giving background on various rectifiers through history.Basically when we talk about old vintage rectifiers (pre-1960), aren't we talking about either 5U4 or 5Y3?
