I'm looking at putting together a 5C8 tweed twin head. I'm repurposing an old Chassis which only has two input sockets and 3 preamp octal sockets. I could drill it to take the full circuit, but I'd rather not.
Simple question, can I just remove one "half" of the preamp, circled in red. I can't see how this would cause any problems, If you know better please advise.
Many thanks

Re: 5C8 build question
Yup, no problem. You'll get slightly higher voltages without the tube.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Re: 5C8 build question
Many thanks guys, much appreciated.
I'm intrigued by the added triode and the tone stack on this. I built a 5C5 and just love it, so this circuit is intriguing me as it is very similar beginning and end but quite different in the middle!
I can't find any clips of one in action, anyone actually built or heard this circuit? I'd be so disappointed if it turns out to be not a lot different to the 5C5!
