Interesting, bizarre, never saw those triangular terminal strip thingies before.

Looks like it would be a nightmare to repair

Studio has an imperial. Great amp. OMG are 6v6s supposed to do that? Poor things. Glass can sweat.
It's interesting but not enough to mess with.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Interesting.... if those triangular component blocks are removable you'd have modular construction. You could make a batch of modules and slap em in wherever you want...
Once you troubleshoot the bad module (usually power supply related) repairs would be a breeze....
Gut shots are not very informative though
Had an Imperial opened up years ago... I wanted to know what the mid-range circuit was all about but couldn't trace the circuit... nice construction but all double-sided board stuff...
They were using paralleled 220k metal-film plate resistors for the plate loads. I ask the designer (can remember his name) why and he said it was because they had lots of 220k metal-film resistors!
Have never seen a schematic for any ToneKing amps but it would be nice...
TT

Never seen anything like that.
Looks kind of tight on those triangle thingies.

I am dying to know how that "Mid-Bite" circuit works. I played a Metropolitan once and it worked really well. Maybe the mad scientist Miles will crack his opentictac wrote:Interesting.... if those triangular component blocks are removable you'd have modular construction. I was really impressed by the innovative layout in the Sky King, but yeah don't know about serviceability. I have a feeling the designer didn't overlook it.

Its nice to see some unique construction ideas going on in there. No matter how often you hash it out, someone has a new trick up their sleeve.

Re: Tone King's Sky King guts
be nice to get a look at his "phase 4" power soak / scaling / whatever circuitry.
