Vintage tube collection

Post by beasleybodyshop »

Look what I came into today - tube collection from an old HAM radio guy that died earlier this month. Had the estate sale today, and I couldn't believe what they had! Picked all this up in one fell swoop. He tested every single tube and put a slip on them listing their "quality reading" and model. Even scored the tube tester! I'm still digging through what I actually bought, but already I'm spotting a few good tubes. Attached are some photos.

If those 3 boxes are ECC 83 / 12AX7's and depending on what you paid
you did really well...

Yeah it was three 12ax7s, look to be nos in box. Using the tester shows they are new.

Had at least 6 12AU7s and AT7s, mostly RCAs but there was a few Mullards that appeared NOS.

Lots of 6SN7 tubes, think these are for TVs or something? Or ham radios. Not sure. I've counted about 400 tubes.

Took the tube tester apart. Someone recapped/serviced this thing quite recently. Luckily it came with the manual. So much fun testing tubes lol.

Yeah not going to lie I got really lucky. No one at the estate sale really cared about all these tubes, they were literally sitting in boxes in the garage. Had a really cool stereo record player console that I tried to get, but they somehow thought it was worth 500 bucks...but didn't even bother to price the tubes and tester! I made an offer and they took. Truth be told I didn't even know there was a sale until just drove by and saw the sign. Goes to show it pays to keep your eyes peeled lol!

6SN7 you will find in a few old Ampegs and Gibsons and a lot of audio hifi. Good score there.

I'm going to be buried with my stash. Like the ancient pharaohs. Take my stuff with me. In case the afterlife is all smooth, white and polished like an Apple store, and all solid state.
