+1. not too confident of the the trimmers I've used to stay put but my own amps don't travel much and stay around the house so so far ok. I'd be worried if I was selling them. I tried sticking a ball of poster putty on top but it becomes less elastic and more sticky like gum from the heat it seems. Rock solid stability was main reason I was looking for a high quality trimmer. I really think Leo era Fender didn't use a bias trim was more out of a concern for road worthiness than cheapness.Phil_S wrote:unless it can be locked, it will eventually move and then bias will drift, with the risk that it causes poor tone or worse, red plating. The application really calls for something that is designed to stay put.
I tried cutting and notching a pot long ago, I just had hand tools so it looked too reptile dentistry and I brought shame upon myself. I also don't want the adjustment on the outside. Never know where the amp will wind up and there's just to many boobs with monkey fingers out there. I know, I used to be one.
