Re: Fried Output Transformer??
I'll bet everyone of us has done something that was obviously wrong and didn't see it happening. Learn from it. Next project?

Only the first resistor, 6k8, in the power supply looked a bit burnt.Firestorm wrote: Something burned, tho. Can you tell what?
I replaced it with a 3 watt metal. Seems fine so far.
Re: Fried Output Transformer??
That's what I get for wiring at 1 o'clock in the morning. That will be my second rule. First one is, don't drink so much beer while wiring.Phil_S wrote:I'll bet everyone of us has done something that was obviously wrong and didn't see it happening. Learn from it. Next project?
A few more issues with this one:-
1. Tonestack isn't working properly
2. Sounds like I'm playing through an octave pedal
Here's the best part though, went to slide it back into the cabinet, wouldn't go all the way in. Great, what now. It originally had a Twin Reverb transformer, now with the size of the Marshall transformer it hits the speaker frame!
Got to turn it into a head now

Actually, don't drink any beer. These things can kill you, right?Aaron wrote:That's what I get for wiring at 1 o'clock in the morning. That will be my second rule. Check your power supply caps' solder connections. I had the octave effect happen to me one time because I didn't solder the ground connection on the reservoir.
Re: Fried Output Transformer??
See if you can rotate the speaker. No more beer. Get more sleep. Clear headed is the watch word!
Re: Fried Output Transformer??
A quick update. All working perfect.
Tonestack fixed
Octave noise fixed - didn't ground the cap
Fits in the cab - rotated the speaker!
Thanks everyone
