Modify big SS Marshal for little SS Marshall tone ?

I have a few 80's Lead 12s that sound amazing and a Marshall 75 reverb from the same era that just flat doesn't.
I was wondering if there was a way to bypass the extra boost circuitry and try to make a lead 12 flavored-75 watt amp ?
I was hoping to mod with some trace cutting and jumpering like I have done with a few hybrid amps.

Just gain, vol, tmb, reverb.

The small powerfull Marshall packages are such a bargain. It's a shame that they have to sound so (not good) when all the right ingredients are there.

BTW, is Marshall solid state OK for this forum?
