Power Supply Question

Post by C Moore »

I am kind of building a Xits 10. I have a few questions::

1. Do you think I could use a left over OT from a Valve Junior as a choke.? This is a single ended OT that ran One EL84. I would be using it to run the screeens on a Pair of EL84 and 2-1/2 12AX7. I thought I could use the Secondary winding of the OT. Is that a stupid idea.?

2. Assuming above choke is functioning.....
Can I calculate (in round numbers) the value of dropping resistors I would need to supply the PI and Preamp.?
My PT has no CT. It is 250 VAC across the primary. I planned on using a bridge rectifier into a 20/450 reservoir cap, and then into the Choke and 10-450 cap into the screens.
Should I plan on about 350 volts from the bridge.?
Thank You

X10 is a great choice to build.

Don't know about using the old OT as a choke... mine had a dropping resistor instead.
