Ampeg R12R Layout?

Post by Cliff Schecht »

I just recently found out about this cool amp. KF had some good things to say about it and I've never played one. I have a big stash of good NOS 6S*7 and 6V6's that I've also been itching to use in some stuff (also thinking about an octal Bassman). Definitely not coincidence! 8)

I've seen the schematics around the web, but I haven't seen jack diddley as far as layouts are concerned. The new versions of these amps are nothing like their earlier brethren, so these modern PCB layouts aren't really of any use. Does anybody know if there are layouts or decent enough gutshots out there available to base an amp off of?

He has one in very good shape and has taken high-res pictures. The thread says there are some in the archive on that forum, but I didn't look.

I got a PM from a fellow TAG member Overtone with a layout of his creation for the R12R. He hasn't posted it yet because it is currently unverified, something which I might be able to help with in my free time over the next week or so. Since I don't have any specific cabinet in which to build this in, my build won't be a traditional Ampeg build (is there such a thing? :P) but having a well thought out layout to work from saves a LOT of the planning hassle. Thanks again Tony!

I already asked Tony but I also don't know much about the transformers in these amps. What should I be aiming for with the B+? How about the OT primary impedance?
