Just to avoid misunderstandings:

AFAIK the 4 x 12" Dumble cabinet that was on eBay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI ... true&rt=nc

doesn't have two separated top and bottom compartments. The four speakers all share the same compartment.

Max have you seen or have you been inside a Dumble 4x12 like the one that was at Maverick Music?

AFAIK there is a Center Baffle inside dividing the top and bottom half of the 4x12 seperating the (2) pairs of 2x12's.

There is a convertable back baffle to that gives the ability to open the top or bottom back part of the cab, whilist dividing the two. Essentially its like (2) 2x12's stacked on one another, with the option to seal the top or bottom, or leave the top or bottom open.

In fact the ebay posting provides that the cab is in "excellent original & unmolested condition, Dumble 4X12 EV cabinet, totally issue free, closed back or half back"

Yes.

No, this is wrong. There isn’t such a center baffle inside this Dumble 4x12” speaker cabinet dividing its inside in two separate top and bottom parts. This wrong info is probably a wrong conclusion based on the obvious fact that the pictures show that the back of this cabinet is divided in two removable parts by a crossbar, just like the two front baffles.

Of course and obviously someone can remove all or just one of the two backplates – if someone should like to do so. But there aren’t two separate compartments inside. So if you remove just one of the backplates, then the sound produced by all the four speakers will leave this cabinet through this opening.
