A noise question.

I just sold a Lightning clone. I tested it well before I shipped it. It sounded great and it was dead quiet. Even with the volume cranked, there was very little if any extraneous noise. Now, I never turned the thing on without a guitar plugged into it, but the guy is saying there's unbearable hum that goes away when you plug a cable in. WTF?

Input jack is not shorting out the tip.
