Man, that sucks. Basically, shipping costs have gone up considerably in the US in the last few weeks. Now, I'm not sure what to say about Sozo and $30 for a few caps. Sounds pretty extreme.
I know one thing, it's making online ordering a real PITA. I have a few instances lately where the shipping was over twice the actual cost of the item being shipped. Blows big time.
Maybe we'll vote for someone who will let the US drill for oil on there own land next time around.

Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
I'm sad about this thing with Sozo
They are nice folks but the shipping has been weird for a while.
I sincerely want to see them do well.
Hope they can pull out of the shipping funk

Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
That is a rip. International Priority Mail for a small box is about sixteen bucks. Chances are they could send them first class for a few bucks.
Sounds like they're trying to strip mine the offshore customers.
Sorry man, we're not all like that.

Look. everyone in the English speaking world has a cousin in Pittsburgh. Have them shipped to your relative and then forwarded.

Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
I was just starting to get interested enough to try out some Sozos too! I'm on Oz as well, but I don't think I'll be giving them a go with that sort of postage cost.

Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
katopan, maybe we can split the ships. Im in Ringwood east.

						Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
I'm in Bentleigh, but I think I'll give it a miss even splitting the shipping. Thanks anyway.
You know you can get Vishay ERO 1813 caps locally shipped from Element 14 (the old Farnell)? Might be another option. I used them in my 18 Watt and they sounded good to me. Some people have said they really like them in other forums and others think Sozos or Mallorys are better.
Anyway, YMMV. Keep in mind this is all from a guy that's generally happy to put Jaycar 630V browncaps in his amps unless the amp's something really special or it's a value they don't have.

Re: Sozo shipping gone beserk?
I do like Sozo caps and truly appreciate their attention to detail but I just don't have the patience anymore to wait for pack-order after pack-order. I love Mallory 150s and what they may lack slightly compared to Sozos, i feel it can be made up with careful tube/speaker selection. Just my opinion.

There are lots of options for shipping overseas and for a small order
USPS is the least expensive. Priority mail Video Flat Rate or Flat Rate
Envelope is under $20.00... Retail $16.95.
$30.00 seems to me they don't want to be bothered writing the
customs doc and going to the post office.
1st Class is another option too.
1st Class is only good up to 13 oz and Video and Envelope only good
to 4 lbs.

Sozo shorted me two caps 6 months ago. Never got em. I'll never sozo again.

You have to make 3 copies of a commercial bill of lading, customs document, and fill out a form to do international shipment.
So the actual cost of the shipment, the extra time to do the paperwork, and you have to get to the post office, because its not a daily pickup like UPS.
I don't think its too much to charge.

Nahh. you fill out a single long form customs declaration and hand it over with your check. It takes about three minutes. I've shipped a lot of stuff overseas up to a value of about $800 and that's what I did.Cantplay wrote:You have to make 3 copies of a commercial bill of lading, customs document, and fill out a form to do international shipment.
