Need help identifying this amp.
I Snagged this one for pretty cheap, but it has no markings anywhere that indicate who made this. It's got potential for sure, nice big Stancor iron, 400v secondaries. I got it because I like the shape of the chassis. I think it's going to be a JTM45 when I'm done. Who made this thing?

Re: Need help identifying this amp.
I have seen those identical pot faceplates before. It was on what appeared to be a kit amp of some kind that looked about late '40s to early '50s.
(Gray glass 6V6GT, waxed paper filter caps). No ID on it that I could find, but this was a real cheapie. The OT had laminations about 1/16" thick and no EIA code. Yours sounds much higher quality.
Maybe old Heathkit or Lafayette? These pot faceplates look very generic and may have been sold just as such to hobbyists to stick on their chassis.

Hi Germ,
Yep. I won the auction for it on ebay, for a decent price I think. You should see the trannies in this thing.
I saw another one a couple days later that was really close to it, but with only two inputs and a tone control. Like others have said, it's either a homebrew, or an RCA. I think it was a homebrew probably, the layout inside does not look like the typical RCA style. Some said Masco, but it's not. I have a few of those, and seen all the rest. They didn't make one like this.

I love it! What did you have to shell out for it? That's gonna be one very cool amp.

Yeah, I love the retro industrial look. I'm gonna give it a nasty wrinkle finish just like it was. What a beast!
I got it for $46 bucks off ebay. Heck, the choke is worth that much..
I opened it up and took a close look inside. Still no identifying marks, but it has been modified. OT and choke have extra holes underneath, and a couple of the socket holes were drilled with a hole saw. I'm just gonna gut it, and make something else out of it. I'm leaning towards maybe a Marshall inspired setup, using octals and el34's. I'm thinking about making a footswitchable parallel preamp stage, where the switchable stage is set up for higher gain, to add sort of a parallel boost when it's kicked in.

It looks to be like some sort of old PA Amp if I'm not mistaken? It is really cool and its got plenty of knobs for all kinds of stuff. TMB, Volume, Master, Gain ect. I'm jelous! I want one too.
