Trouble with MXR Time Delay (2000 Series) SAD4096 Chip
I am having trouble with my MXR Time Delay. I can use a soldering iron, and I am not afraid to try, but my technical knowledge is very limited. This pedal will pass signal, but when switched on, no delay occurs. It had no compander chip when I bought it, but I determined that it had a NE571N compander chip from web sources (I don't remember where I found that info). I purchased a couple different NE571Ns and none of them made a difference. When I put the first one in the first time, I could hear a tiny bit of delay for a few minutes, but never again. I made note of the trimpot positions and tried to recalibrate but it made no difference. I am thinking of trying to replace the SAD4096 chip next. Does this sound right? Anyone know where I can find an SAD4096? I would really appreciate help with this one.

I saw some SAD4096 chips on ebay awhile back and they weren't cheap. You could try to look there maybe. You might try to cross reference the Recticon to another 4096 BBD chip.
good luck

I have found some info indicating a MN3205 could be used in place of it, but not sure if that will work in this application. The MN3205 has only 8 legs instead of 16. I have been looking for the SAD4096, but there are none there right now.

You can use a MN3005/3025 but you have to make like an adapter board for it.I have used one in a DOD 680 delay that used a 4096 and it worked fine.( and believe me I searched the net for months and there is no 4096 to be found that was a price I would give for it).

You may could change some components around on the MXR board cause this takes space it looks like you dont have.Maybe re-house it to another enclosure.
What I would do is use a DC adapter and build the 3205 adapter where the battery goes.
