Soldering the tube sockets with an old dead tube in the socket could help from getting solder in the pin hole. I had that happen a couple times, and it is nearly impossible to get the hole cleaned out again. I ended up replacing the socket out of frustration.
Also a good practice to plug an AC cord (not energized, of course!) into an IEC socket when soldering to prevent melting the plastic body and taking the pins out of alignment.
