Need good uses for a couple of Super reverb output trannys.

I have three of these and other than using 4x10"s or two 4 ohm 12"s what can I use them for when allowing 100% mismatch.

A 4 ohm load will give me about a 6400 reflected primary.

I suppose I could use them with 6V6s or EL84s but don't want to leave too much potential on the table.

Any other ideas?

KT66 tubes would be a sweet fit for those trannies @ 6.4K

Great, I will look for some kt 66 based designs.
The only one I've heard is the RT 66.
Though it maybe the UL OT that I didn't like.

I have a couple of 370-0-370 tweed Bassman PTs to use too.

Maybe a comet-ish thing or JTM45 ? Tweed twin?

Any 6L6, 6V6 circuit will sound great with KT66... I built a JTM45 that had wonderful clean and distorted tones.... Think early Clapton & Hendrix

I measured the OT at 3.2k into a 2 ohm load. so at 4 ohms I figured 6.4k and 8 ohms 12.8k.
Or am I missing something ?

The RS Radio Spares transformers that were in the early KT66 equipped JTM45's had 2 primary OT taps that you could use operate the power tubes. A 6.6K ohm and an 8K ohm one.

The intuatively the 6.6K tap ould seem to be the logical choice and yet guys who design modern day replicas of this transformer say that the 8K ohm tap was where the tone was really happening....

I had a hand wound Radio Spares replica (Stephen Delft) from Obsolete Electronics and the 8K tap had a very sweet overdrive tone and a luscious clean tone....

The point I'm trying to make is don't sweat it over a few K ohms... Anywhere between 4k to 8k will be fine... If you have a 4 ohm speaker load on the secondary you'll be in that terratory...

Super Reverbs had great iron... it should sound fantastic...

I find single secondary tap OTs too limiting, no matter how vintage and nice. Even in a combo I always get pissed when I can't try a certain cab or speaker. Sell them off and get something just as nice with 4/8/16. Just a thought anyway.
