Its owner is a prominent South Orange Co. Atty. He has a lot of really cool vintage stuff I have helped him restore or at least get back to working condition.
I knew guy, said he used haul one of those around thru the Boston area
T and subway, on his shoulders, can you imagine... put the thing on the
bathroom scale and let us know will ya?...
That is an older one 6146 tubes. I've worked on quite afew of these amps.If you replace any of the caps,be sure you ground to the same place the old ones were grounded.
'69, maybe early '70. The Stones toured with these, this was during their Ampeg period, and the plate cap cables would come off all the time, so that's why Ampeg switched to 6550s.
85 or 90 lbs. I can't move mine ('75) any more by myself.
Make sure you change all the filter caps, you may have to approximate some of the values today. And check the heater hum adjustment pot, they are always burned out. Oh, and also check the 8K2 dropping resistor, they burn out too.

... all that and the caution regarding PC traces too.
Thanks for reminding me of this amp. I, too, used to work with one - and now I'm recovering from back surgery for a herniated disc. Might be related???
