Amp faceplates in UK - found a good one!

Post by rogb »

I needed a pair of faceplates making up, so I asked the question on here.
I didn't have much luck getting a UK engraver.

Apart from BNP Laser in the US, who said they would get back but never did... and the expensive German company, http://www.schaeffer-ag.de where it would probably cost over 100 euros shipped, I found Modulus Amplification did laser engraving, but at the moment, the machine isn't working.

I was lucky enough to find Furnell's in North London, who made me up a pair of plates in 1.5mm black Traffolite Lite ( a cheaper version).

It only took a few days and they were very professional at all times, working from my dxf files.

Highly recommended and it should cost around £40 for a pair of panels - they can also do back engraved and filled and all manner of metals.

Folks, these are the real deal - they will also export too!:D http://www.furnells.com/

I spent ages trying to find someone in the UK who would actually be prepared and at a sensible price, and finally gave up.

BNP Lasers have always been first class with me, so I wonder what went wrong for you. I've had Jeanne send me packs to my hotel when I've been in the States and was able to hand-carry them home, and she's sent me test samples when she didn't think fonts were rendering particularly well, etc.

Anyway, good to know there's someone in the UK that's willing to step up to the plate.

I'll tell you all my secrets, but I lie about my past.

Thanks for posting that. £40 seems very reasonable.

Do you have a photo of the finished face p[late or could you describe it in more detail?
