I'd like to hear suggestions for an outboard reverb build.
Is 6G15 the way to go or is there something "better" available?

check this out.
12at7 pre, 12au7 srpp driver, 12ax7 grounded grid recovery, simple
resistance mixing to the output.

I love my 6G15, but you have to get the filtering right and the grounding absolutely right.
Re: Outboard reverb suggestions?
What about a MidiVerb or MicroVerb?
Unless you want sproingy instead of plate/hall/whatever else those toys do.

Or a Quadraverb, they're a dime a dozen these days and have a really good variety of reverbs. They DO sound best in the loop though.DonMoose wrote:What about a MidiVerb or MicroVerb?

Built the Weber 5G15 almost two yrs ago. It's a very good sounding unit.

Thanks for suggestions.
btw. thanks for the help with my previous project, works at last!
So no transformers?check this out.

Yes, it has to be analog and tubes! What about a MidiVerb or MicroVerb?

Re: Outboard reverb suggestions?
I think schematic heaven is back again...
look the effects section, there are several old brands for add on verb
danelectro, supro, premeir, etc....
the best thing about schematic heaven is the shear number of schematic
I'd browse many amp brands and survey just how many different ways there
have been to get "verb".
I was in an alamo once that used a 6u8a driver. A high gain pentode and
a triode dressed as a follower, capacitor coupled to the reverb tank.
The recovery was a transistor that was powered off the cathode bias
voltage of the power tubes, pretty clever.
Inside a very old dano, I found this balsa wood box with a spring and two
loops of wire, all held together with painters tape, I'm still guessing how
the thing worked, maybe the tape formed a simple capacitor between the
spring and wire loop getting a signal to and from the box? primitive....
things only need to be complicated enough work.

Re: Outboard reverb suggestions?
I finished a 6G15 build this week and I'm really happy with it.
There was a bit of ground loop hum so I fitted the attached ground
loop hum eliminator and its nice and quiet now. I had to isolate
all of the inputs and outputs, which was a bit of extra work, but
well worth the effort.
Cheers,
Paddy
