BF Tremolux filter capacitor question

Post by bsaul »

I have a Black Face Tremolux. To raise the preamp and PI plate voltages, I am going to change the 10K resistors in the filter cap can to 1K and 4.7K (like the Pro, Super etc.)
Do I need to change the filer capacitors? They are all presently 16/450 (the correct value for the Tremolux)
The schematics for the Pro, Super etc show 70/350 and 20/525.
The power transformer for the Tremolux has a somewhat lower voltage rating, 325vac vs. 340vac.

schematics available here:

Changing the resistors will change the feel of the amp, less squishy, more punch. If that's your goal, then by all means do the filters as well. It's not necessary, but it will help contribute to a tighter bottom end.
