Jackpot Again

Post by passfan »

I've struck again. A couple months back I fell into a box of 116 vintage audio tubes worth god knows how much for 60 bucks. Today I answered an add for some assorted drivers and cabinets, a gretsch tube amp, and assorted ukalele parts. What I find are almost a doxen vintage fender and celestion drivers in good shape, a fender 2-12 cabinet, a Leslie 2-12 cabinet with one driver still loaded, an old lap steel, two old uke's, an old acoustic with a case that opens through a flap on the big end, A gretsch valco supra, a gretsch reverbration 1-10, a monkey wards airline amp, a powered 1-12 monitor, an old RCA tube reel to reel ,an old quad of mesa 5881's and assorted mics and vintage gibson deluxe tuners. As I'm getting ready to leave she remembers an old piano in the corner which is a fender rhodes with the legs and pedal , missing the top cover. The cost of this Sunday haul .....is a whopping 200.00 bucks out the door.
I have to check this stuff out and do some cleaning but I should make my money back and have some nice vintage amps to boot. Somebody pinch me.

I realize you've gotta tell someone who can appreciate it, but this is ridiculous. 8) What a deal!

You bastard! Nice haul, have fun!

...the money you saved on that Rhodes might even be enough to cover the pain meds you'll need after hauling it around a few times. ;)

I should be so lucky. I recently won $10 on a loto ticket and "reinvested" it. Nada.

The rhodes I have no use for. I hope to sell it and possibly make some money. It actually works but needs to be cleaned. The celestions have open voice coils. Someone tried to modify the Gretsch reverbration amp. It's a valco made 6149 and I will have to put it back to original. Someone tried to put a 6l6gb in the valco supro. I believe the proper tube to be a 6v6. Hopefully no damage there. The airline is one of those with the heaters in line with a resistor and fed straight off the power line. One is a 50 something and one is a 35 something (model @ gdr 9001b). Had the mesa 6l6gc's (now that I got them out of the box) test out at 80 or above on my eico 628 (60 to 100 is good). I have to do some tolex repair on most of the cabinets and some animal chewwed a lot of the cream face and the handle off the supro. I may look for a handle but leave the cloth alone. I have a matched pair of fender 15"s with the blue fender sticker on the magnet I will sell that read good.

Nice haul!
I always loved the sound of the Rhodes in the right hands.
