Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
I decided to put this amp together today, drilled and punched holes, got most everything put where it needs to be.
This is from Steve Ahola's BF/SF Hot Rod Tweed conversion Bluesmaster version. I kept wondering how this amp would work so decided to make a Bassman size chassis (22.5") into a custom 1-12 Bassman combo.
I should be able to finish tomorrow.

Looks really nice Mark
I have this same iron sitting here wondering what to do with it
Really like to hear what you think of this design and if it's anywhere near
the Dumble modded circuits we have heard.
Thanks
Darin

Mark, It looks like one of your yellow bench outlets was out late, partying last night....

I need to move that power strip.
One time I wasn't paying attention had my radio plugged in on the left side of the strip and my solder was pulled out of the roller and contacted the plug puff loud noise and smoke. Damn lucky I didn't touch it.
It's convenient in the front like that but too dangerous when working with wire.

Re: Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
Finished the amp and it was so successful for that Phonix type honk I can't wait to build the Crunch version.
The only change I made from the layout is to add a cut control which I use a lot in my amps.
An effects loop might be nice as well.

Hi,
Very nice Mark, as allways.
Looks very interesting.
May I ask if the C/R network behind V1 is a regional FB (Dumble like)?
And is there rearly a big difference between the Bluesmaster and the Crunch Monster? There are quite small differences (like the marshallesk 470k-470k/C voltage devider and a different coupler C/R at PI).
Maybe some sound samples of the Crunch Monster? In YT?
Best

Re: Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
The sound bytes are located here. http://blueguitar.org/
But I find them too fuzzy or cranked which isn't the way my BM sounds at all so I suspected it was just the recording process.
Not much difference at all in the two schematics which are available on Steve's site as well as has comparisons of both in one layout. But I plan to run EL34's in the Crunch model and go for more of the Marshall flavor compared to the Fender tone of the BM which can still get some nice singing leads with volume to 2-3 pm plus kick in the boost or add the Full/warm which is just a cap added in.

This is the smooth option which Redplate also used in my Blackverb amp.May I ask if the C/R network behind V1 is a regional FB (Dumble like)?

Re: Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
I added an effects loop because reverb pedal was loaded down going in front of amp.
Changed over to typical 3 socket bias meter test so I can read each power tube not combined total like before. No other changes to circuit.

Re: Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
Just a note I had to take out one of the 470k divider resistors on the board in PI circuit because the idea Steve had was for half power switch but I didn't put one in so the amp was loading down with that extra 470k. Now I have full power

Re: Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster
Changed the bias test points and added a serial effects loop.
I got a Zoom recorder and reading the instructions on how to record wish I wasn't so dumb about recording.
