Here is a clip from 05 or so of one of my Fuchs. At that moment in time it was a Skyline, .047 midcap, high plate amp. Cathode biased...... TC G Major sending 100% wet mix to L/R Tech 21 Powerengines. The clip has no post production and was recorded live in the room with the stereo playing and a nice external camcorder mic!
Hope you like.....

Scott sounds wonderful... Is that a 50 or a 100w...I imagine a 50 might be a little too soft... Always wanted to try a 100w cathode biased in a classic skyline...Get a little of that smooth cathode bias break up from the output section..I have a quad of Black plates 6L's beggin for it...Beginning to warm up to the .047 mid cap as well... Nice playing!!

Shortly after, I switched to the .01 midcap. I much prefer that, fwiw.

That's awesome. Really liked the blistering lick at 1.14-1.20...

Which Fuchs amp is this?
So how big can you go with cathode bias amps?
I really haven't seen anything using more power than the usual 6V6 amps using cathode bias.
I imagine with bigger tubes that the cathode resistor has to get big as well.

Budda made an 80W cathode biased amp a while back. Still does.
Re: Cathode biased 80s non HRM with Wet/Dry/Wet sample
450-470 plate voltage= 250 ohm 10w ceramic resistor per pair 6L's runs them 70-80 % depending on how much current draw from that pair...I am surprised with all those players who complain about how loud their amps are don't do cathode biasing..or at least do both with a switch...I really haven't seen anything using more power than the usual 6V6 amps using cathode bias.
