I have been researching the Mid Boost and Deep switch mods trying to figure out where in the time line that HAD implemented these two.
Not having much luck.
I see the 80's amps like #124 had the Mid Boost, so was the Deep switch before or after that.
What is the timeline concerning the mid/deep boosts.
EDIT:
I see that #124 is actually labeled Deep but it is the Mid Boost values.
I see on the Ceria BM it has both switches.
So is the Deep Switch found only on the Bluesmaster amps?
What I am trying to decide on is which to put in my amp?
The D'Lite 44 with 2 x 6L6's, high plates, 4.7uf bypass on all.
250K mid pot, I can't remember which mid cap I currently have in it.
Either the .01 or .05.
Which would be more desirable if you could only choose one?
Thanks
The mid boost switch is easy to figure out but the deep switch seems to have a few different ideas behind it.
Is this the correct values for the Deep Switch?

I find mid-boost (on footswitch) more useful, but is there a reason why you can't have both? Put the Deep on a pull- pot...

Structo,
In #124’s case, it use to house a Deep switch but Dumble upgraded the amp to Skyliner specs in 88’, which included the Mid switch.
As far as I know, the last amp that featured the Deep switch is #167 and the first amp to feature a mid switch is #176. Should make it late 80’s me thinks.
I personally prefer the Mid switch since these amps have so much bass available on tap with a slight tweak of the Bass pot that a Deep switch seems kind of superfluous (maybe not on the older silverface models though).

No, I would think that all Bluesmaster amps have the mid switch since that particular style of ODS was born in the 90’s. The Deep switch on the BM seems to be an addition Ceriatone made themselves. So is the Deep Switch found only on the Bluesmaster amps?

Re: Mid Boost or Deep Switch, That is the Question
Thanks for laying it out so I can understand UltraHookedOnPhonix.
I figured there had to be a time line but when I started looking at schematics and layouts, there didn't seem to be a strict guideline as to what amp had what.
So the deep switch is an older rendition that the mid switch replaced?
So it would seem the mid switch is preferred over the deep.
Butwhatif,
I don't have either in my D'Lite. It came designed with the Bright, OD and PAB front panel switches. I currently have a two button footswitch with OD and PAB.
So I was considering putting a mid or deep switch on the back panel and also have a relay and footswitch for it.
I'll probably jury rig it first to see if I even like it with my amp.
The last mod I did was to install a 5 pin DIN connector for the footswitch so I have room for one more switch and relay if I wish.
Thanks!

Re: Mid Boost or Deep Switch, That is the Question
Just guessing but I think the deep switch went away when the skyline came about. The bass bump the deep switch gives you sounds great with the classic circuit but the skyline circuit has plenty of bass as it is.
Re: Mid Boost or Deep Switch, That is the Question
I personally am a big fan of the Deep switch, especially when used together with the Bright and Rock/ Jazz switches, but only for clean sounds.IMHO the Mid switch is most useful for fattening single coil sounds, so it really depends on what you want to achieve.BTW I have seen one early 80s ODS that had the Classic eq and the Mid switch, but also 22 µF Bypass caps on V 1.It can´t hurt to have both options

Re: Mid Boost or Deep Switch, That is the Question
I'm also a fan of the Deep switch AND the mid switch. The latter is footswitchable.
I use two different cabinets with my 50w amp.
- 2x12 with 12g65 and
- 1x12 Thiele with EV12L
I've found that using the deep switch with the 1x12 Theile cab, I'm getting a more loose low end comparable to the 2x12 cab.
The deep sw, IMO, should not be resticted to the clean channel. I changes the overall tonality of the amp.
The mid boost, is best for the OD channel fattening up Single coils.
Just my $0.02
