Is that pine(?) burned or dyed?

The front panel is pine stained with ebony Minwax wood stain.

I really want to try and cut some box joints on my table saw.

Any hints you can give?

Did you use a dado blade?

Me too. I've been checking out box joint jigs. This one seems pretty slick:

You can buy the hardware for ~$16. I'd have to get a dado blade, too. The last head cab I built I used a router for the box joints. This table saw setup looks much better. I've got the 3/4" pine for a 1x12 or 2x12 cab sitting in my garage.

Yes, I use a dado blade. I built a sled that works like whats shown in that UTube video, but mines not so adjustable. I built it to do 3/8 finger joints. Once I got the stop adjusted properly and locked it in place it's really very easy and fast to make really tight joints. I'll get it out and take some pictures tomorrow. Today its out by the pool all day. 8)
