too much noise from my OTS with single coils.
Seems like there is more noise from this amp with my strat than with my other amps, 2 18watt amps, maybe its the higher gain?

I suppose it could be the build.
Did you build it or did Nik build it.
Is there shielded cable in the appropriate spots?
Is the top of the amp chassis shielded.
How high of quality are the guitar cords being used.
With that said, single coils are always noisy.
It can also depend where you are standing in relation to the amp.
If you are standing near it, it will be noisier.
Try stepping back and rotating your body and listen to how the hum changes.

I built it, in relation to that, if I unplug the giutar the amp is silent, I mean no hum at all unless I turn the volumes up to extreme levels, I take this as a good sign, yes?Structo wrote:I suppose it could be the build.

Used the supplied shielded cable, 7 locations on the control side.
Used foil tape on the inside top of the cab.
I do sit near the amp, but have moved around and while there is a change for the most part the hum is pretty constant.
I'm using a planet waves 10ft cable.
I took the amp to a friends store and ran it through a peavey 6550 412 cab, sounded real good, open, even toned, plenty of body and depth. the cab I'm using with it sucks.

If you unplug the guitar and the amp is silent, then it's what's in front of the amp. Cable, shiledinging the guitar, or the pickups themselves.

I guess I better use that foil tape and sheild the cavity and pickguard, see if that helps.
I'll try some better cables too.
