can I measure pin voltages with a VoltOhm meter

Post by docmh »

I have a Ceriatone 50 watt Overtone Special. I wrote in an earlier thread I don't thinks it's very loud. I want to measure the Pin voltages on the tubes to see if it's close to the Ceriatone layout.
V1 Pin 1 191 Pin 3 1.7 Pin 6 200 Pin 8 1.6
V2 Pin 1 200 Pin 3 1.7 Pin 6 201 Pin 8 1.7
V3 Pin 1 298 Pin 3 1.7 Pin 6 289 Pin 8 1.7
V4 Pin 3 442 Pin 4 441 Pin 5 42 Pin 6 443 Pin 8 37mV
V5 same as above. These are all using JJ tubes. I have the bias set to
the correct mV's but don't know how to check the other voltages.
Can In use my VOM meter? Do i put the positive probe on the corresponding pin? Where do I put the negative probe? Is the chassis ground?
I've worked around voltages before so I'll be very careful.
Appreciate your help.

Set your VOM to DC Volts. Negative probe to chassis ground. I find it safer to measure voltages at the board rather than at the pins.
