6l6 tube ?
Im looking to buy a new set of 6l6's for my dumbleized deville. I think I have it narrowed down to either the TAD tubes or the SED winged C. Can anyone offer some advice as to what would work better in a 4X10" combo? Also any help picking between the standard TAD 6l6gc-STR and the WGC-STR would be much appreciated. Im concerned that certain tubes may sound overly bright in the 4X10 set up. Looking to retain a nice smooth OD. Thanks!
Re: 6l6 tube ?
youll find winged C highly regarded in this land....At least for a newly produced mid cost solution.
Personally I prefer the el34's in dumble clones to 6L6, if your pt can handle it, but that is a personal taste issue.

it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds
Re: 6l6 tube ?
I have had multiple failures with the TAD short bottle 6l6es. They arc the tube socket(plate3 to heater2) when they fail. it's JMHO but I don't use them anymore.
That said, they did sound great almost like the old RCA blackplates.

I'm a Tung-Sol 6l6gc-str user M'self. The winged C's are a strong second.

I really liked the set of TAD 6L6-STR bottles I had in my D'Lite but one red plated after about 10 hours of use...
I have the Winged C's in it now.
They are ok, nothing to shout about.
I also tried a set of JJ's in there.
They seemed to have a touch more bottom end than the Winged C's.

Re: 6l6 tube ?
Thanks for the feedback, sounds like the winged C's may be more reliable. I dont have the cash to be testing a bunch of tubes right now so reliability is important. I hadnt considered the tung sols, Ill look at them too. I have read some good things about the Groove Tube 6l6 GE's but they seem a bit overpriced.
