Opinions: Celestion G12T-75 vs G12-65

Post by markmalin »

I still have to buy a speaker for my D'Lite combo. I have a chance to buy a G12T-75 or G12T-100 locally at a price I can't pass up, but originally I had heard that the G12-65 is the way to go. Anyone have experience with the G12T-xx vs G12-65? I'd appreciate any thoughts on which way to go. I don't have experience with either.

Thanks in advance,
Mark.

Here's my expereince. There is nothing I like about G12T-75. There is nothing I dislike about the G12-65 (heritage re-issue). Any questions? :D

Well....actually...

So what exactly don't you like about the T? Too harsh? Too bright?

I thought you might ask. :)

Ice-picky. Kind of harsh. Beamy. I just hated it.

I have one and it breaks up early,is sharp sounding and only sounds good at distorted volumes. The cleans are not great.
Paired with another speaker they sound great for rock music but they lack the midrange detail needed for the D type builds.
Crystal latice or vacuum, that is the question.

Not exactly.... I have a bunch of Spotters, as well as G1265s. The Spotter can cry badly. It also is brighter. And, it has a 2-3db bigger "hole" in the 1500hz mids. They really sound very little alike to me. I prefer the 1265.

Didn't you have good luck with the Mojotone Grayhound?

Ok. I decided to go with the Delta Pro 12A. It was between that and the Mojotone Grayhound. I think I'll try the Mojo on the next one. Thanks for all the input, guys.
