Transformer orientation - help.

Post by markmalin »

Hi,

I'm building my first D'Lite 22. I bought a D'Lite chassis from Brownnote (nice chassis, by the way ;) but unfortunately the Heyboer power tranfermer I bought doesn't fit in the punched out hole. It's actually narrower. The best solution I can come up with is to rotate it 90 degrees, notch out the hole a bit and drill 4 new mounting holes. No problem. But I'm wondering, if I do this, do I have to rotate the OUTPUT transformer, too? I thougth I read somewhere that the OT and PT have to be mounted so the iron is 90 degrees out of phase with one another. Of course... the Power transformer I bought is the "laid down" style, so maybe this doesn't matter?

I would appreciate any discussion on this, guys :) Thanks!

Mark.

It doesn't matter with a laydown transformer, don't rotate the output transformer.
