dual eq on ODS?

dual eq on ODS?
a stupid question:
why not build a ODS with dual eq (one for each channel)? Some schematics show two tonestacks on some of the later amps.
Another issue: why not bypass the first eq when using the OD channel? (e.g. by lifting the ground connection)

the HRM versions do this, the HRM gives you a tone stack for the OD. You can bypass the first tone stack with the PAB. Some people build with the TMB from the HRM board on the front panel.

Re: dual eq on ODS?
You mean an Eq. different from the HRM one?
That's something that has already been suggested. I remember having read about a James Tonestack & I'd rather be tempted with an Hot Rodded Vox (HRV) myself - not just kidding...

yes, this is just what I was looking for - thanks! Any info about this?norburybrook wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:58 amthe HRM versions do this, the HRM gives you a tone stack for the OD. Re: dual eq on ODS?
I'll offer a thought about this. IF your amp has an FX loop (passive or active) try a 10 band equalizer in it and see what tone shaping you prefer.
I have a dumblish inspired amp. I use a James tone stack in the OD channel because I can dial in mid-boost or mid-cut tones. It's dumble heresy but works well for me.

HRM amps (see Bluesmaster, e.g.) already have this covered.Roe wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:26 amyes, this is just what I was looking for - thanks! Re: dual eq on ODS?
I seriously thought about doing something like this but got told that the vox amp doesn't fit itself well to the OD that dumble used so I stopped the plan, I even had a schematic I drew up for it and was going to attempt a build... just stopped when people told me that it had been done by someone and the OD didn't sound good at all...
maybe someone should do it again, to remind us all

Re: dual eq on ODS?
You have basically just described a Bluesmaster w/ Megaboost

						Re: dual eq on ODS?
thanks for explaining. Still I haven't seen a single Dumble or clone with a dual eq on the faceplate (I've only seen trim pots inside)
