Heaters for Dumble 183

Post by Oddvar R »

Hi. I was wondering why this layout omits the heater connections? Any hidden scheme or does it go without saying?

Hello —

I’d say something but ...

Look to photos for inspiration?

It’s just left out for clarity. As Ian suggests, have a look at photos of completed amps. Heater wires are twisted together and run about 3/4” (a couple of cm) above the socket lugs.

So, I was wondering if the old Fender twisting could be changed to the Soldano Slo wiring type?

You can, yes, so long as you connect up heaters, it will work. Since the dumble style layout with the heaters above and wound, is known to work well, you can stick with the tried and true, or experiement. I'm building a marshall and not twisting my heater wires as an experiment too. I may regret it :D We'll see how it comes out, but I've read a lot of people saying the wire placement is more important than the twisting, but twisting does add a bit more hum rejection.

Hi and thanks for answers. My Soldano 100w build is very silent. Inside my Mesa Mark SOB there is also an alternative heater hookup. I am thinking about trying this version.

Hi, there is some great info regarding other builders experiences with wiring heaters in this thread.
Hope it helps.
