Hi again - planning an ODS build, and wondering about your preferences for some parts.. not quite sure yet if 50 or 100W - most likely 100...
I already have most of the smaller parts, but
Pot's - Alpha or CTS - pro's and con's?
Classic Tone transformers - both PT and OT - any thoughts??

Re: Parts preferences
I often wonder if these differences are audible for most people?

Re: Parts preferences
This is an passioned discussion that is heavily debated all the time on forums everywhere. Some people claim they can't here a difference, others swear it's obvious. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. The trickier part would be to design a setup that scientifically proves differences in tonality on a per component basis. I've heard several theories on how this could be done, but nobody yet has implemented one that I know of. The closest I've seen is people doing component swaps and testing against test gear that does signal analysis, but even that could theoretically be problematic if they end up damaging some components desoldering and resoldering etc.
Someone, some day, may have proof for that question, but so far, it's all personal experience. If anyone else tries to prove it otherwise, I'd love to see the data.

Re: Parts preferences
In my most recent build I used "mojotone vintage taper" 30% taper pots for the tone stack. The usable range feels better than my last build in which I used the standard 10% taper potentiometers.
