John Mayer Dumble ODS #223

Post by Bombacaototal »

The pics are of John Mayer ODS which he was using up until "Where the Light Is". It seems an HRM with EL-34's

I found an article that lists a similar amp

https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/ ... ve_Special

I am just wondering which generation are these amps from. The article mentioned mid 90's with skyliner tonestack in a run of 40 similar amps (although the one they had was updated to bluesmaster).

For those more experienced with the sound of these amps shall we assume John's was not updated and the tonestack is something closer to a #183 then a transition skiliner from the 1988 #124 for example or a later Bluesmaster? Probably high plates?

Does anyone have more info on this ODS?

Serial was 1 apart from his back up which was #223

His main amp is either #222 or #224

#224 was a combo which was discussed here https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=15 although there is a comment it may have been converted to a head

I played a head just like it, maybe two serial numbers off. 100W EL34 HRM. I loved it. Such a sweet, mature and even sound.

Thanks for sharing Jelle

I'm thinking the circuit will be similar to either of these

An older post which seems to indicate that the low 200's had 220/150 on V1 plates
