"Starve" switch on early Dumbles

Post by Matt J »

Hey everyone,

I haven't found any direct information on this subject through searching on here, so I thought I would start a topic on it if anyone wanted to throw in some thoughts.

I've noticed that on a few of the very early Dumbles, some of them had "Starve" switch on them. Anyone have any further information on this? I'm guessing it is some sort of B+ or input voltage drop to lower the head room. Anyone ever looked into this further or tried one on their own builds?

I installed a starve switch on a ultra phonix style amp that I built. As shown, it throws the PI off balance. It reduces the volume and adds some distortion. In my opinion, it is kind of cool, but not anything great.
