Magic Parts TF-130

I have a question about the Magic Parts TF-130 PT.

I have one in my 102 clone and it has always rum hot to the touch.

So in looking at their site I saw this for the TF-130:

Fender Twin Reverb, Showman Dual showman Quad Reverb, Bassman 100 Mounting Centers :3 1/4" ×2 5/16* 2×6L6GC Power Transformer.

What concerns me most is that it is listed as being for 2x6L6GC's...WTF?

Typo? Cannot find a spec sheet for it on their site.

I am thinking of changing it out, wanted to see what others thought?

EIA Code 238 is Thordarsen-Meissner

The new Magic Parts transformers are made by Classic Tone EIA code # 40
The Twin PT should be 40-18042 Magic Parts # TF-135
If your PT reads 40-18073 you have problems it's a 50 watt PT

Has a small white sticker, which reads:

TF-130
1052 9831

So a Pacific made PT 31st week of 1998...

I am curious about this as I was going to use the FET relay I have for switching the Bright for on with clean channel only.

When I was looking in the chassis, I noticed that the two 150 ohm resistors from pin 7 on V5 and pin 2 on V4 were dark brown, not fries but close...read some older posts about secondary mA and tried to look up the TF-130 specs...saw the description on the Magic parts site and was concerned.

Put my meter on the PT 6.3VAC leads and they seem to be good, not reading open...powered it up seems to run fine, just hot...amp is six years old and has been working great...just thinking I might have to replace the PT.

Steve, look's like Magic Parts changed vendors a few times.
If it sounds good play it till it dies.
On my #102 build I used 1971 Fender Twin Iron never sounded correct.
Found a NOS set of Thordarsen-Meissner transformer set sounds killer.
Pacific is good Iron see if they make a power transformer now for a Twin.

Played it for an hour tonight, with a fan behind the amp and all seems good...I actually looked at that PT earlier today...might have to pick one up.

I was very lucky and got a 68 Twin Reverb OT off of Reverb last year for $50.00 and it made i big difference in the amp.

Hello, not to long ago I called Pacific and asked them about making some transformers to the same specs as when Magic Parts sold them. They were very cool and said they would have no problem making them to Magic parts formula as long as Magic Parts was good with it. The problem is, they have no record of those part numbers. I think that even though those transformers had Pacific's EIA code on them, they were not manufactured at their facility. I have heard that a company in Indiana and I don't remember the name, made them for Pacific. You can get a stock Mojo transformer as Steve suggests or call up Heyboer and have one made just the way you want it. They are very cool about making one offs.

Thanks for the info, right now I am just going to use a fan with the amp when in use.

I bought a 12vdc fan today and am considering installing it off if the front to pull air in to help with cooling it.
