Been looking at the schematics over at the files section and I was wondering what the purpose of the 470K resistor between the cathode and the grid input.

I'm asking because I'm thinking of building an SSS style amp without the reverb and was wondering if this was key to the SSS sound. At first glance, it seems to me that that topology of the SSS is very similar to the ODS, with the exception of the reverb, low and high filters, among other things.

Hi
I´don´t think that those 470k resistors are the key to the SSS sound. Some builders even omitted them totally (Sergio).
In my opinion the SSS sound is the result of different NFB circuits in the preamp section, the filter and reverb section and of course the post PI driver tube.
