Hi!
That is my question...
I saw videos of SSS clones with overdrive sound (not pedal).
I saw videos of SSS clones without.
So can I obtain an overdrived sound with an sss clone amp based on mhartman layout?
I wish to know before build it!
Thanks
SSS overdrive or not?

Hi there Mr. D! No, that amp will not give an OD sound.
I think what folks are doing for an SSS OD is adding traditional D style 2 stage OD to some portion of the SSS style preamp.

Well, on some versions you can get preamp breakup going on with the FET gain control and depending on the guitar (LP humbuckers versus single coil strat) you are going to get some different sounds. Some of these videos/clips are really hard to tell what is really going on behind the scenes. But in general, most consider it a single channel amp with lots of headroom (if you use it that way). I see that the mhartman layout that you refer to does not have FET involved so yes, that amp won't get you to OD territory without some other help.
