That looks great!
I gotta start mine someday ... did a p2p 5b6/5c3 for postponing this monster, but I'll have to do it. Those shiny big blue Edcors, I got, are pain to watch unused...

I like how the CF socket is a different color...that tube means business.

Cool! Nice start Darin. I'm about to start my Frankenstein SSS since Aaron posted the link to his 300SL thread. It's exactly what I was looking for.

I'll be following your build with interest!

Few pics of some more progress over the holidays and
while watching football.
PAB and FET on relays also a lnfb switch on V1
Rolled some tubes (V1 really matters) and starting to sound decent no reverb yet.
Voltages seem a little off the voltages from mhartman layout
A-427
B-445
C-361
D-359
E-354

Nice build Darin.

I assume the B supply is to the plates. Just watch for voltage surges when you turn the amp on from standby. In my SSS build, the voltages were similar and after a month of switching, my cap would short out, (and it was rated to 500v). Would take out the choke too as it going straight to earth.
After the second time I now use two filter caps and haven't had the problem since.

Thanks guys
I've adjusted the power to be more in line with the layout voltages
btw using the Edcore XPWR127-120.....345-60-345, 6.3v 7.5A, 12v 500ma, using one side of HT for bias so far PT doesn't seem to get too hot
voltages are a little high.
A-397V...goes to reverb transformer
B-445V...goes to PI
C-385V...goes to V4
D-382V...V2 244-243V
E-380V...this makes V1 105V-110v ?
Plates are at 478V, bias at 32-35ma
Grids 472V using 1k resistors
Thanks for the heads up Aaron. There is 480V on that cap
I have a couple 47uf I will put there just to keep it on the safe side.
The choke going to the standby switch and to pin 6 of the power tubes.
I did hook up the reverb tank and it sounds good. Really sweet cleans,
not much in the way of breakup
Working on the FET bias, may roll some more pre tubes maybe AT7 at
CF position. Amp is functional, just wondering if voltages are in the sweet spot. Suggestions and comments are appreciated

Just wanted to update the voltages
found a decent quiet 12ax7 for V1 253V,260V
and a 12at7 for V6 318V,312V
FET and PAB is working. Need to work out a reverb switch.
Now its sounding good and loud and really fun to play

Nice work! That is a really nice looking build. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the one that I built!

Thanks Mike
The more I play it the more I like it
Few more small tweaks and its cab time
Really appreciate you and all the other guys that have spent the time and work and have been kind enough to share it here.
