Good Source for 16 Gauge Speaker Wire?
Hello, I was wondering if anybody has a good source for 16 gauge wire for speaker cabinet wiring. I know 18 gauge would probably work but I like to use 16 gauge. I was getting the black and white cloth covered wire from Weber but they seem to not have it in stock and won't for a while.

Thanks, yeah I thought about that. I guess it was good enough for Fender in the fifties and sixties. I would like something a little bit fancier for my Dumble circuit.

Ha, thought I read here a while back that Ken Fischer's favorite was vacuum cleaner cord. The kind with the lined grey insulation? I remember Mom's old yellow and brown Hoover had that cord.

So my choices are lamp wire, vacuum power cord, or a coat hanger.

If you include of these in your cab, your amp will have a cleaner, clearer, more dimensional sound throughout the musical range, while preserving all the richness and foundation of natural music tonal balance. Not only that, but your amp will fight noise that destroys low level information and the signal's purity.

Oh yeah that $175 magic thingy doesn't include any actual speaker wire - that's extra

I've been using wire from old electrical cords. They sound best the high current ran through them for years have lined up the electrons for superior sound

Do you mean you use screened cable for speaker chords?67plexi wrote:Hi Charlie I only use Mogami 15 AWG 50-100 watt amps 10 AWG 800 watt.

screened in-unscreened out
personally for vintage looking speaker cables I use gold fabric braided chandelier chord.
Everything else I'm a Van Damme man myself.
