De Clean Finished - Too clean. how to get more gain?
Firts of all, sorry for my English, I am from Barcelona.
I have finished DE Clean, with some modifications in the Eq section, buffered fx loop etc.
Two weeks after test it, I think that it's very very clean amp. I put the Firts volume at 10, and I can't get hair sound. I love the tone of this amp ut I want to get some hair sound around 6-7 of the volumen pot.
I Want to get it, What can I do?
I can name Gain the potentiomer after treble isn't it?
This is the schematic;

Thanks![/code]

What power transformer and voltages are you running?
Re: De Clean Finished - Too clean. how to get more gain?
Your preamp voltages look ok. The power amp ones, I cannot see.
What is your bias current?

The bias current is 50 ma
I want to up a little the gain in the preamp,
I only hear something moregain when I put the master level up of 8, But it's gain comes from power stage.

I would try reducing headroom in the second stage with a smaller cathode resistor.

It's only 2 gain stages so you are limited. However, with no topology changes you could do a simple tone stack lift aka PAB(pre amp boost) mod. Modded I would drop he cathode cap values to 4.7uf and transpose the V1a and b plate/cathode values or make both symmetrical and try 220K/1.5K.

this PAB modification is ad one more stage?

Why not use the OD channel and omit the clean channel - ie, hardwire the OD without switching and excess switches.
Re: De Clean Finished - Too clean. how to get more gain?
I would first make the NFB switchable and switch it off
This should give some hair back.

Whoa, is it that simple? Would that work for me?Synchu wrote:I would first make the NFB switchable and switch it offThis should give some hair back.

I lost most of my hair a long time ago...
(Good call)
Re: De Clean Finished - Too clean. how to get more gain?
why two rock custom reverb, with more or less the same schemeatic, when put the gain more than 8 start to break. (I only take in consideration the clean channel of two rock)

Plate and cathode resistors on the gain stages are rather different (100k/1.5k), NFB as well. (4.7k/390R), which biases the stage differently than yours.
I would in any case try lifting the NFB as a first step, since it's quite easy.

NFB is the first step - couple Marshall Major stacks cranked to eleven might have the desired result, no?
