JM Signature on the Bay

Buy it now for 25K..
Does anyone know what generation/Model this amp is designed after? (no pics of the back)..Usually the 1st Handmade prototype goes to the artist as part of the signature deal so could be that John is selling this one through Maverick..I am also wondering how far they went with the NOS components, is it the entire amp or just a few resistors?

If you watch the Ebay/online forums/reverb.com trends, you'll notice all the original Two rock amps have quadrupled in asking price, but actual sale prices range from $1800-3500, pending model.

No offense to the seller(s) , that amp in no way shape or form is worth that price tag.. Maybe $4500. Regardless of production numbers, rarity , Whats inside or who used/signed it, sorry- its not a $25K amp and really not a $39K amp, Quite a long ways away from commanding prices like that...

One is allowed to put whatever they want into their pipe and smoke it- obviously! They will sell it but likely for much less, and it will cost more as they'll likely loose a year+ in time sitting on it in attempts to sell..

For a fraction of the price you can get the same/better amp built..

Really makes you wonder sometimes, is anyone steering the ship!!??[/u]

Hehe yes sir you can.

I have to say, after building as many of these as TR did....it is a great sounding circuit, and the reverb portion on the circuit is the best part of the amp. But it's more or less a 100w Super Reverb, with better verb and more mids!

I just can't see how an endorsement can drive value so high...like who even built that amp? Beth Campbell? She's got great solder skills...but does she even play guitar? Its an assembly line amp with a signature!!!

Man these JM fans are crazy.

That is an odd ebay listing. The pictures of the car are not there. In fact the car is not even mentioned in the text.

I could be flamed for saying it- but, most of the Two rock builds I've seen have been "less than" desirable in build quality, lead dress, etc...
Having seen more than a handful of them in person, seeing a 25K TR JM sig was a big head scratch-er...

Remove the name and look at the overall build quality, you can clearly see they were thrown together as fast as possible and very inconsistently.
They do sound great and imo that is the saving grace,

What enabled success for TR was having a great sound & how nicely finished the cabs/head-boxes were. They also did great because of the lack of folks building SSS/ODS/Hot rod fender reverb amp circuits 7-10 years ago, if TR were a start-up brand in competition with everyone now, I think the outcome would have been drastically different for them..

People tend to associate Quality from the Name instead of the facts.. Or even worse, they buy because "Oh he's God and Gods use his amps, his website states they're the best"... Well, that's all fine and dandy, Go with the name because they said so crap.
You could end up with a build like this!!!
And that is not good....

Yes, Two Rock happened at the right time as the Dumble craze was just in the beginning.

Bill was smart when he got out and the PBG bought them.

This is a John Mayer Sig

Not too bad but I don't understand the need to put the eyelets so close together.
I think they said it helps bad transients or some mumbo jumbo.

But when you bend the leads too close to the body of a resistor, it can crack the epoxy or worse.

So what they have going for them is name recognition and a fan base.

Funny how Larry Carlton plays a Bludo and Robben has been seen with one as well.

Does any one know what make those resistors are from the bias pots to ground?

I believe they are metal oxide and 2% tolerance
